To use AI models, you have two options:
1. Bring your own API keys (BYOK)
Connect directly to Anthropic, OpenAI, or any other provider. Your keys stay in your system keychain. Vera Studio never touches your API calls. Free forever.
2. Use Vera Cloud
Pay-as-you-go model access through our unified API. One account, one bill, access to every major model. No separate subscriptions. Usage-based pricing.

$20/month subscription. If you use Vera Cloud for model access, your Pro subscription includes $20 of compute credit. Any usage beyond that is charged as pay-as-you-go.
Note: If you use BYOK (your own API keys), Pro gives you all the convenience features for $20/month — no compute usage involved.

Is Vera Studio really free?
Yes. Vera Studio is free to download and use. There are no artificial limits, no feature lockouts, no trial periods. To use AI models, you can bring your own API keys (free forever) or use Vera Cloud on a pay-as-you-go basis. Upgrade to Pro for convenience features.
What’s the difference between BYOK and Vera Cloud?
BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys) means you connect directly to Anthropic, OpenAI, or other providers using your own API keys. Your keys stay in your system keychain — Vera Studio never touches your API calls. You pay the providers directly.
Vera Cloud is our unified model routing service. One account gives you access to every major model. We handle the billing, you get one bill. Usage-based pricing. If you’re a Pro subscriber, you get $20/month credit included.
Can I switch between BYOK and Vera Cloud?
Yes. You can switch anytime in Settings. Use BYOK for full control, or use Vera Cloud for convenience and unified billing.
What if I use more than $20 of Vera Cloud credit in a month?
Overage is charged as pay-as-you-go at standard usage rates. You’ll see your usage in real-time in Settings. If you consistently use more than $20/month, consider whether BYOK might be more cost-effective for you.
Do I need Pro to use Vera Studio?
No. Pro is optional. Vera Studio is fully functional without it. Pro adds convenience features (dictation, summaries, tunnels, skill packs) and includes $20 Vera Cloud credit. If you don’t need those features, just use the free version.
What happens to my code if I stop using Vera Studio?
It’s yours. Everything Vera Studio builds is real code in a real Git repo. Clone it, host it anywhere, hand it to a developer. Zero lock-in.
When will pricing be finalized?
Vera Studio Pro pricing is $20/month (confirmed). Vera Cloud usage rates are still being finalized and will be announced before general availability. Early access users will be notified first.
Can I try Pro before I buy?
Yes. We’ll offer a trial period for Pro when it launches. Details TBD.
